Niludhan Falls in Bayawan City - Niludhan Waterfalls is a total of 3 sets of steep, plunging, narrow waterfalls that merge into one strong cascade after heavy rain. The water at the falls is warm and ideal for swimming. For more daring swimmers, there is a ledge behind the waterfalls for diving or free falling. Mambukal Resort - Mambukal Resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental is one of the most popular mountain resorts in the Philippines. At 1,200 meters above sea level, it is also one of the highest mountain resorts, serving as a gateway—or an exit, depending where you came from—to the vast and verdant Mt. Kanlaon National Park. Suspended on seven sprawling hectares of sheer cliffs peppered with bright-colored bougainvilleas, swimming pools and premium rooms are positioned right at the cliffs’ edge, ensuring guests a commanding view of an endless sea, while winding staircases lead directly to a half-kilometer stretch of isolated white sand beach.

Festivals to Witness!

Masskara festival of Bacolod - The term Masskara is coined from two words: mass, meaning crowd, and the Spanish word cara, for face; thus the double meaning for "mask" and "many faces". The Masskara festival was first conceived in 1980 to add color and gaiety to the Bcolod City's celebration of its Charter Day anniversary, on 19 October. The symbol of the festival - a smiling mask - was adopted by the organizers to dramatize the Negrenses happy spirit, despite periodic economic downturns in the sugar industry.

Tawo-Tawo festival of Bayawan - Tawo-Tawo festival was born in celebration and remembrance of such bountiful harvests, portraying the two important elements of the fields: the scarecrow and the mayas. Woven together, the two form a spectacular portrait of rich history and culture.

Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete - Sandurot which means, "fellowship and reaching out," and is derived from the Visayan word “pakig-sandurot” for the offering and enjoyment of hospitality. It is a colorful, annual fiesta event to commemorate Dumaguete’s rich history dating the pre-Hispanic period where peoples of different and foreign cultures, including Chinese, Japanese and Spanish, came together to create a diverse community that is Dumaguete today.

Mudpack Festival of Mambukal - a symbolic celebration of man’s return to primitive time when he was closer to nature. Oneness with nature is the underlying theme behind this annual mud-moving spectacle. Check on its murky highlight - a lively street dancing parade with the participant wearing nothing but mudpacks (well, almost...). It's a surefire way to mix our ecological concerns with good, clean, cloddy fun - just be sure to shower afterwards!

Babaylan festival of Bago - A festival newly conceptualized by the City of Bago and celebrated during the Charter Anniversary every 19th of February. Babaylan Festival is based on the rituals performed by the Babaylans, like rituals on marriage, baptism, healing, harvest and others. Babaylans get their healing powers from the unseen spirits.

Foods to Savor!

Baye - baye of Bayawan - baye-baye is a delicacy which is interestingly popular only in Bayawan and not in any rice farming towns in the province. It is an Ilonggo delicacy brought by migrants to Bayawan which shows how food culture moves together with people.

Budbod of Tanjay - Tanjay's budbud always come in pairs in a full (and sticky) embrace, like lovers. Be it big or small in size, the signature taste that marks it as Tanjay-made is consistent. So when you visit the town, make sure to sample the tender, chewy, moist, and sweet budbud -- and bring home some as pasalubong to complete your trip.

Chicken Inasal of Bacolod - Inasal which means “cooked over fire”. This is a local version of pork or chicken barbecue. It is cooked with red achuete or annatto seeds giving it a reddish color and brushed on oil and cooked over the fire. It’s cheap and affordable as well as delicious. Also, Ilongos put on herbs and spices that made their inasal special.

These are just a few of the places festivals, and foods that Negros Island can offer. Come and Enjoy your life with us Negrense.
